Well that didn't work out so well. I thought it would be fun working in a craft store again. Being with the fabrics and getting a discount but no discount is worth that kind of shit.
Tomorrow I quit.

To All Whom It May Concern:
I apologize for having wasted your time. I quit.
My application clearly stated that I was unavailable on weekends. I was told weekend shifts were “rotated” and so made myself available thinking I would work every other weekend. So far I have worked every single weekend. I was also told I could be scheduled mostly for morning and mid-day shifts leaving my evenings free to spend with my family and yet I am scheduled to close every shift but one this week. Another thing I was told of was a “short” probationary period before a pay increase. Within a week this “short” period has lengthened from 30 days to 60 days to 90 days. I have no need to work for anyone who can't be taken at their word.
And a note to your fabric department manager. I clearly have not been here long enough to know much and her having been on vacation when I started certainly didn't help. Having had some fabric experience I have been assigned to that department a few times. I did my best to organize and help customers as much as I could.
Sunday was a busy day and I was only in that department until around 2pm. I believe I left it in better shape than I found it but cannot vouch for what happened afterward. On Monday I was told I had done wrong in folding the fabric the way I had. I immediately apologized and assured her I would not do it again. But my chastisement didn't end there. It took a darker and more negative turn. I was verbally assaulted for having left things “piled up,” everything out of its proper place and for spending time on “fancy folding” when there was so much else to be done. I had hoped she could give me some proper training within the department but it was at this point that she turned to a customer and began to belittle me in front of them. She went on and on about the turnover rate of the store and how no one knew anything about her department. As if I wasn't standing right next to her and trying to learn. When she finished helping that customer she turned to me and told me to “go find somewhere else to work.” Here I am, willing and able to help as much as possible and yet I am chased off. I can't remember the last time I saw someone act so unprofessional and downright mean. Its not much of a person who is unwilling to train someone but more than willing to degrade them for doing it wrong.
If you are wondering why your store turnover is so high you have only to look to yourselves. You hire honest and reliable workers and make them into dishonest and unreliable employees. If you wanted people to stay with your store you might try paying them living wages, keeping your word and treating them with the respect all human beings deserve.
I would appreciate if you mailed my last check.
Sincerely,
Thalisha Kamice' Call
I also want to thank my wonderful husband for encouraging me in all things.
